View Full Version : WHY IS DEERSKIN MENTION IN THE GITA?
IN CHAPTER 6.12 OF THE BHAGAVAD-GITA WHY IS DEERSKIN MENTIONED WHEN THE DEER IS ONE OF THE MOST FAVORED ANIMAL OF LORD KRISHNA
Lord Krsna is not advocating killing deer. This instruction is from another yuga when yogi's were able to sit for extremely long periods of time meditating. Some were able to sit for years and ages.
The skin of a deer that died a natural death was used as a protective ground cover because reptiles such as snakes would not crawl onto the skin and disturb or harm the meditating yogi.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION IT HAS BEEN PUZZLEING TO ME NOW IT IS NOT THANKS TO YOU'RE ANSWER
Actully, Krishna didn't care so much if deer and other animals were killed for food in the previous ages. It is just now that he frowned upon the practice, in the age of kali. The killing of animals by humans is good for their karma.

You're a funny fellow there, student. i noticed that you listed "running' as one of your interests on your personal profile, and i have to wonder how many lifetimes you've been running from Krishna?

Hare Krishna Student.
You really should read Bhagavad Gita as it is beford making such remarks.
yours in the service of Kriahna david.
Oh, I have made the mistake of reading all of those books and becoming brainwashed by them just like mymaster, YOURMASTER, did.
But in a flash of insight, I saw thru the bull poop and discarded the books and foolish gurus and struck out on my own. Now I have what it takes to go thru life in freedom without the fairy tales and myths that you are brainwashed with.
My master, YOURMASTER, helped me for awhile and then would not let me be a groveling student any longer.
Also, I like to run because it keeps the body in a state of health and helps me to think clearly. Physical health is important if one can have it. There is no excuse to let the temple of god get fat and sluggish, all the while pretending to be such an advanced soul like the stupid fat gurus who eat off of special plates. Discard gurus and be happy! Make them work at real jobs.

Then you have no need of a forum such as this, good luck and goodbye
Hare Krishna.
We are witnessing a very strong example of a mayavadi in action.
What ever dreams you concoct to make you feel like you are in control. That is the real problem. That is what keeps you from seeing reality. Your mental images and thoughts about what you believe to be right. That is all a usless, immature waste of time, no matter what a foolish guru says.
You see, mymaster, YOURMASTER, was a discipile of prabhupada and went thru all of the rig a mo roll of being a 'devotee'. And then he saw the truth of it all in a great flash of insight. It is insight that any one can have if they come to the point of honesty and seriousness.
Otherwise they will continue to be baffeled by gurus and leaders and authorities who profit from their weakness. The business of guruship is one of absolute guttership.
are we here to talk about gurus or lord krishna ? think about it buddy .. it is embarrassing
Ok. Krishna is a story that some body thought up...like a novel of sorts. It makes for good reading and- if one wishes to be distracted and have excuses for avoiding responsibilites- a good escape.

So many doctors think running is bad for knees kidneys the like. Runnimg in a city is bad due to dirty air. maybe is true maybe not.
Think clearly. Some people will gain weight some will not consider Jim Fixx running's "guru". He died at 52 heart problem ran (no pun) in his family. So running can not alter death and rebrith.
Krishna Can.
THIS BODY OF OUR'S IS ONLY MATERIAL AND THIS EARTH IS MATERIAL NO MATTER HOW HEALTHY YOU ARE YOU HAVE TO DIE IT IS OUR LIFECYCLE AND AFTER THAT THE REST IS UP TO LORD KRISHNA ONLY HE CAN JUDGE US BOTH THE LIVING AND THE DEAD.-RAJESHWAR RAGHUBIR.

If no one replies to such nonsense, there will be no cause for the rascals to seek attention

I have been advised that the term "ras**a"l is offensive here and it has been edited from my previous post. I regret if this offended anyone.

Hare Krishna!
I see no offensive in the word at all (but then I am not easily offended).
Srila Prabhupada used this word often and it seems if we do not indiscrimately throw it out as in name-calling then there should be no problem. The same thing goes with the three letter word for animal that barks and makes us take him for a walk!
These words being censored here makes it difficult to quote Prabhupada. And his quotes should not be censored.
your fallen servant,
Rukmini-Devi dasi
p.s. I came in to edit this post after noting that the word for the sound a canine makes has been bleeped out. There is a famous quote from Prabhupada that uses the three letter animal word and the sound they make and it is appropriate in many cases.
