Surely you jest! Devotees do not aspire to see the Universal Form of Lord Krsna. We are not able to serve Him in the Universal Form.

Also, where is this mantra authorized by Prabhupada?

you kicked bhardaraj out for smoking dope.....
"you are that same 'Queen Rukmini'?, we hope....
to call a thief a thief, is not "faultfinding.....
we had 4 life member contracts we hold binding....
without Deity Darshan, it's been hard to cope....

arjuna asked KRSNA to display His Universal Form....
"the standard" for detecting, to which Incarnations conform....
we're noy saying,"ask Him in a challenging mood!".....
even for a liberated yogi, that would be rude....
since when does "your opinion" dictate the forum?....

all we're saying is that "scripture suggests".....
this is a way to sort The Lord from all the pests....
you know "how it is these days?", with all these Incarnations....
"what harm can it do?", God's Names in incantations?....
it happens,"i know!", and i want others equally blessed....

Srila Prabhupada said to challenge anyone claiming to be God to show the Universal Form because only the supreme lord can show this form of His. The cheaters will be defeated by their inability to do so. Prabhupada never instructed us to ask Lord Krsna to show this form.

The original post in this thread is sweet. The Holy Names of Lord Krsna benefit us all when we read, hear or chant Them. Thank you.

Hare Krishna!!!

i myself don't object to seeing the Universal Form if i'd be so lucky.
i doubt i would be allowed to see Krishna Himself.
still i know neither of the above should be my goals,
but i wouldn't lie, i'm still a materialist :(
but i'll try to serve if i can.
thanks,
Dandabats.

Sweet, sweet sweet - these 108 names of Lord Krishna!

The chanting of these names is frequently offered during puja in many mandiras.

Sweet, They are ... and amazingly, They are - each and every one - contained in Their entirety in the maha-mantra ...

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare `
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

:D

I have been chanting these 108 names of Krsna daily for about 10 years now. I believe they originate from the Narada pancharatra. After chanting them from a printed version for some time after daily gayatri I realized I could recite them from memory and took it as a blessing from the Lord. Darshan of His Holy names never goes in vain. A devotee friend gave them to me as a gesture of friendship so I considered that it was the Lord's blessing upon me that they came to me unrequested. The scriptures say: "sampradaya bihena me mantrasya te nishphala matah" whithout recieving a mantra from a realized Guru in a potent sampradaya, we are only firing "blanks". However as I said, I have faith that these Holy names came to me through the goodwill of a fellow aspiring vaisnava, and I have become attatched to them as an adjunct to my aspiring service of the Holy Name that has come to me directly from my potent Spritual Master Srila Sridhar Maharaj. There are strong guidlines that come down to us from Sri Guru-parampara regarding the recieving and transmission of transcendental sound, however, we also have to remmber that trancendeltal "life" is not something rigid, or dead or soley based on laws and rules. Krsna is a living dynamic, interactive person of infinite capacity. An absolute autocrat who does as He likes. when He likes. Fortunately for us He's also absolutely good. You will know His grace and will when it touches your heart in a living way, more than ever memorizing stories, ideas and passages from books. Not that that shouldn't be done...but I think the important point is we must make a proper approach toward Him as recommended by the scriptures and saints but more importantly we must enter into a very sincere relationship with Him. In our genuine nakedness before Him He will accept us in our sweet vulnerablity (trinad api sunichena) and innocence and reveal Himself according to our corresponding heart-felt surrender. ye yath mam prapadyante ...Give your whole heart and everything else will follow nicely.

I forgot to mention, there is a story about a devotee who was serving his Gurudeva very nicely, so nicely in fact that Lord Krsna Himself appeared before the devotee and said: "Come, you are now liberated...enter the spritual world!" However, the devotee replied: "Excuse me Sir, but I'm too busy seving my Spiritual Master, I'll have to check with Him first". So, I'm thinking this should be our mood. We don't want Krsna without Gurudeva. Ultimately we are Radha-dasi. Servants of the Lotus Feet of She whom we are not fit to mention, but in Who Krsna delights and recieves all service. She is manifest in this world as Sri Gurudeva. And without Gurudeva we have nothing. Srila Raghunath das Goswami exhibited this mood after the departure of his Gurudeva Swarup Domodar. He went to Vraja to commit suicide because of his deep transcendental dispair in separation from his Gurudeva. But by Mahaprabhu's Grace he found Rupa and Sanatan there and was enriched by their association. Finding Guru (Radha-dasyam) again in them. So in conclusion, perhaps we should not presume to want to see the universal form or any revelation for that matter. Arjuna was scared out of his wits by Krsna's display on Kurukshetra. What would happen to lesser beings such as ourselves?? I for one am grateful to sweep the temple floor and do the pots. There's more revalation there than my tiny kamandalu can hold, If only I had the inner eyes to see! Also what is that "seeing". Krsna also showed the universal form in the assembly of the Kuru's when they tried to capture Him with ropes. When Krsna manifested unlimited forms everyone began to praise him,, but the blind King Drtarastra could not see and began to pray: " Lord may I also see? But I am blind, how can I see? Then Krsna said: "I say you can see" and then the blind king Drtarastra also beheld the vision. So its not with the fleshy eye that we "see" Krsna. It is revelation in inner consciousness, its a subjective experience accessed by faith and faith alone. "Darshan" means to be seen by Him, not that He becomes subject to our sensory inspection.
When Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur installed the Bhag Bazar math dieties. someone remarked "aren't the deities beautiful!" He replied:
atah sri krsna namadi, na bhaved griyam indriya, sevon mukhi hi jivadau, svayam eva spuritiada. He, (Krsna) is beyond the range of our senses but is realized through service to His devotees.
