View Full Version : Humble Request for Gita Jayanti - December 11

Hare Krishna!
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

On a vast plain known as Kurukshetra, in northern India, Lord Krishna spoke the "Song of God" (Bhagavad-gita) to His dear friend and devotee - Arjuna.

Although this conversation was only approximately one hour long - the Gita contains the very essence of eternal truth direct from the lips of God Himself.

Since that day on the battlefield, the 700 verses of the Gita have been read, sung and discussed and is the most famous book in all of India.

Srila Prabhupada translated the Gita and explained it to us "as it is" without interpretation or speculation. There is such power in Lord Krishna's direct words that we can feel confident in passing on Bhagavad-gita As It Is to those who have never read it or heard of it, knowing that this one book will transform their lives!

I humbly request that we all go to the link below and purchase two copies of Bhagavad-gita As It Is so as to share this great gift that was brought to us by Srila Prabhupada.

My request is that you donate one copy to a local library near you and that you give the other copy to a friend, relative or co-worker and encourage them to read this powerful life altering book.

your fallen servant,

Rukmini-Devi dasi

my cousin called me today telling me it's her birthday next Saturday, thanks to Rukmini-Devi dasi i was able to tell her about today, and she asked me to give her the Srimad Bhagavad Gita as a gift.

good thing she's Sagittarius, the horse and the bow and arrow are the Sagittarians emblems and they embellish the cover of the Bhagava Gita, which made her more eager to read this most important conversation.

All Glories to the Devotees of Iskcon for tirelessly working to distribute the Bhagavad Gita to the fortunate fallen souls of this ironical age of Kali.

TRANSLATION

If hundreds of thousands of suns were to rise at once into the sky, their radiance might resemble the effulgence of the Supreme Person in that universal form.

PURPORT

What Arjuna saw was indescribable, yet Sanjaya is trying to give a mental picture of that great revelation to Dhrtarastra. Neither Sanjaya nor Dhrtarastra was present, but Sanjaya, by the grace of Vyasa, could see whatever happened. Thus he now compares the situation, as far as it can be understood, to an imaginable phenomenon (i.e., thousands of suns).
